MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio — iPhones and iPads too. Slow, won’t boot, out of storage, stuck on an update, or due for a fresh macOS. $30 diagnostic, credited to the repair, and a straight answer on whether it’s worth fixing.
๐ Call or Text 229-561-1674Macs Are a Specialty, Not a Sideline
I work on all Apple products, and Macs are a specialty. In practice that means I use macOS every day, I know where it keeps things, and I don’t learn your machine on your dime. Bring me a MacBook Air or Pro, an iMac, a Mac mini or a Mac Studio, any age, and iPhones and iPads too. Age doesn’t rule a machine out; older Macs come through my shop all the time.
Same $30 diagnostic as anything else in my shop, credited toward the repair if you go ahead. If the honest answer is that the Mac isn’t worth the money, I’ll tell you before you spend it. Windows machine? That’s a different page: PC repair.
The Mac Jobs I Actually Do
The six things a Mac comes to me for most.
A Slow Mac
Usually a nearly full drive, something launching at login that shouldn’t, a runaway process eating memory, or a macOS version the hardware wasn’t built for. On an older Mac with a spinning hard drive, the drive is often the whole story.
Won’t Boot or Stuck on an Update
A folder with a question mark, an Apple logo that never finishes, or an update bar stuck since last night. I get into recovery, check the drive, and either finish the update cleanly or get your data off first.
Storage Full
I clear what’s safe to clear — old iPhone backups, caches, a duplicate photo library, the Downloads folder nobody looks at — and set up an external drive for what you want to keep but don’t need on the Mac.
Clean macOS Reinstall, Data Moved Back
Sometimes the right fix is to wipe it and start over. I back everything up first, install a fresh macOS, then move your files, photos, mail and settings back, minus whatever was wrong.
Migrating to a New Mac
From an old Mac or a Windows PC. Documents, photos, browser bookmarks and saved passwords, mail and the printer, set up on the new machine so you’re not staring at a blank desktop.
Backups That Actually Work
Time Machine on an external drive, iCloud for what’s in your pocket, or both. I set it up, then check that it’s actually completing. A backup that quietly stopped six months ago isn’t a backup.
Apple ID, iCloud and Two-Factor Lockouts
The most common Apple problem I see has nothing to do with hardware. It’s the account. Somebody changed phones and the old number is gone, so every two-factor code goes to a device in a drawer. Or a kid set the Apple ID up years ago with an email nobody remembers. Meanwhile the photos and purchases are all tied to it.
I work Apple’s recovery steps with you in order — trusted devices, trusted numbers, recovery keys and contacts if any were set — and get the account back onto the devices you actually use. Then I add a recovery contact so next time isn’t a project. Want to try it yourself first? My guide on resetting your Apple Account password walks the same steps.
First Mac or first iPhone? I’ll set it up right from day one: Apple ID created, iCloud backup on, your apps and accounts signed in, and the settings that matter walked through in plain English.
iPhone and iPad Help
Most of what I do on iPhones and iPads is the unglamorous stuff: a phone that’s out of storage, a backup that needs to be running before something happens, and moving everything to a new phone so nothing is left behind. Passcode trouble, an Apple ID that won’t sign in, a lost iPhone — those too.
The do-it-yourself versions are written up free on my site: free up storage on a full iPhone, back up your iPhone to iCloud and check it worked, transfer everything to a new iPhone, and find a lost iPhone with Find My. Hit a wall? Bring it by the shop, or I’ll walk you through it over the phone.
Cracked Screens, Liquid, Batteries — Straight Talk
If your MacBook took a fall, an iPhone went in the pool, or a battery has swollen enough to push the trackpad up, bring it in for the $30 diagnostic. I’ll open it up, see what’s actually damaged, and tell you straight: whether a repair makes sense for a machine that age, what shape your data is in, and if not, where it ought to go instead.
What I won’t do is promise a screen, a battery or a logic board over the phone before I’ve seen it, or have you pay for a fix that costs more than the Mac is worth. Getting your data off a damaged machine usually matters most, and that’s often doable even when the repair isn’t.
Is an Older Mac Worth Fixing?
The question I get most about Macs, and it deserves a real answer instead of a sales pitch:
- Can it run a macOS version Apple still updates? If not, it isn’t getting security patches, and there’s a ceiling on how useful it can be whatever I fix.
- What’s actually wrong? A full drive, a bad update or a tangled Apple ID is cheap to fix and worth doing on almost any Mac. Physical damage on an old machine is different math.
- What do you need it to do? A ten-year-old MacBook that only browses and does email is fine after a clean install. One that has to run current software is fighting uphill.
You get the verdict at the diagnostic, and the $30 comes off the repair if you go ahead. If the answer is “buy new,” I’ve written about how to buy a computer in 2026 and when not to, and I’ll move everything over when it arrives.
What Mac Repair Costs
Same rates as the rest of my work. Nothing gets marked up because it says Apple on the lid.
- $30 diagnostic, credited toward the repair if you go ahead.
- On-site: $100 flat for the first hour, then $25 per 15 minutes. No trip charge anywhere in Lowndes County; outside it there’s a flat trip charge by zone, published on the pricing page.
- Remote: $80 an hour, billed in 15-minute blocks with no minimum. Apple ID trouble, storage cleanup, a stalled update — a lot of Mac work can be done by screen share.
- You approve the cost before I start. No contracts on repairs or home service.
Hours are Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, closed weekends. If a Mac goes down and genuinely can’t wait, after-hours and emergency support is available. Several Macs in the house? The Home Watch, Family and Whole House plans cover Macs too (monitoring, antivirus and remote support).
Not a Mac Problem?
Windows laptop or desktop: PC repair. A new Windows machine to set up: PC installations. A quick question by phone or screen share: helpdesk support. Want me at the house or office: on-site visits. I’m based in Valdosta and cover South Georgia.
Apple & Mac Repair — Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Mac diagnostic cost?
$30, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, so it isn't an extra charge when you get the work done. After that, on-site work is $100 flat for the first hour and $25 per 15 minutes after, and remote help is $80 an hour with no minimum. You approve the cost before I start.
Can you fix a cracked screen, liquid damage or a bad battery?
I'll look at it. Bring it in for the $30 diagnostic and I'll tell you straight whether the repair makes sense for a machine that age, or where it should go instead. I don't promise physical repairs over the phone before I've seen the damage. Getting your data off a damaged Mac is often doable even when the repair isn't worth it.
Can you fix my Mac remotely?
Often, yes. If the Mac boots and gets online, Apple ID and iCloud problems, storage cleanup, a stalled update, backups and general slowness can usually be handled by screen share at $80 an hour, billed in 15-minute blocks with no minimum. If it won't boot, it needs to be in front of me.
Will you move everything from my old computer to a new Mac?
Yes, from an old Mac or a Windows PC. Documents, photos, mail, browser bookmarks and saved passwords, printers and Wi-Fi, all set up on the new Mac so it works the way the old one did. I also set up a Time Machine or iCloud backup on the new machine so you're covered from day one.
Got a Mac Acting Up?
Tell me what it’s doing and I’ll tell you what it’ll take. $30 diagnostic, credited to the repair, straight answer either way.
