Onsite Visits to Homes & Businesses
Some jobs need hands-on attention. I come to you โ at your home or your office โ across Valdosta and the surrounding area. I look first, you approve the cost, then I do the work.
Book a VisitWhen the Computer Needs to Stay Where It Is
A lot of what I fix, I fix remotely โ it's faster for you and cheaper, and I'll offer it first whenever it fits. But some jobs can't be done through a screen. A desktop that won't power on has nothing for a remote session to connect to. A Wi-Fi dead spot gets found by walking the house. A new office needs somebody plugging things in. This page is about the visit itself: how I decide it's worth the drive, how it goes once I'm there, what it costs, and where I go.
It's just me. When you book a house call, I'm the one who pulls into the driveway and the one who explains what I did before I leave.
What Genuinely Needs Hands on the Hardware
If the fix needs my hands on the machine, the cable, or the room, it's a visit. If it needs my eyes on your screen, it's remote. These land on the visit side:
What I'll steer to remote first
If your computer turns on and gets online, there's a good chance I can fix it without driving anywhere. A slow machine, pop-ups, email trouble, a program that won't open โ that's remote support: $80 an hour in 15-minute blocks, no minimum, never a trip charge. A quick fix runs about $20. If it turns out to need hands on it after all, we schedule the visit from there.
How a Visit Goes
Four steps. You control the one that matters โ the cost.
1. Book it
Call or text 229-561-1674, email ricky@browningpc.com, or use the booking link. Tell me what's going on and where you are, and I'll confirm a window.
2. I look first
I look at the problem and tell you what it'll take. You approve the cost before I start โ on every visit.
3. I do the work
Right there at your desk, on your network, with your printer. I bill the time I use: the first hour flat, then 15-minute blocks.
4. I show you what changed
Before I leave, I walk you through what I did โ the new Wi-Fi name, where the backup lives, which cable not to unplug.
What an On-Site Visit Costs
On-site is $100 flat for the first hour, then $25 per 15 minutes. Most jobs are done inside that first hour. A $30 diagnostic applies and is credited toward the repair if you go ahead. A typical home visit in Lowndes County runs about $100. Parts, if any, are quoted separately, and there are no contracts for repairs and home service.
The trip charge, in plain English
The drive is a flat charge by zone, measured by driving distance from downtown Valdosta. It's one charge per visit โ not per computer, not per problem โ and your zone is on the estimate before I schedule.
- $0 anywhere in Lowndes County. Valdosta, Hahira, Lake Park, Dasher, Clyattville, Naylor, Moody AFB โ no trip charge, ever.
- Waived entirely on any visit that runs four hours or more on site. Got a list? Batch it into one trip.
- Never charged on remote work.
- Plan members pay $0 in the Near zone and half in the Mid zone.
- After-hours doesn't multiply it. Labor is time-and-a-half at night and on weekends; the drive stays flat.
The full zone table โ every town, all four zones, including the per-mile formula for the far one โ is on the pricing page.
Where I Go
I'm based in Valdosta, and Lowndes County is home turf โ no trip charge anywhere in it. Beyond that I drive to Quitman, Adel, Tifton, Moultrie, and over the state line to Madison, Florida, on a flat published trip charge. Each town has its own page:
Valdosta ยท Hahira ยท Quitman ยท Adel ยท Tifton ยท Moultrie ยท Madison, FL
Hours, and what happens after five
Regular visits are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. I'm closed on weekends for routine work. If something genuinely can't wait, after-hours and emergency visits are billed at time-and-a-half, $150 an hour, for established clients and new clients who opt in. The trip charge doesn't change after hours; only the labor does. If it can wait until morning, I'll tell you โ morning is cheaper.
What to Have Ready When I Pull Up
Most of the first hour is yours. These keep it from being spent hunting.
Passwords
Computer login, email, Wi-Fi, and any account tied to the problem. If they're in a notebook, have the notebook out.
The old machine
If I'm setting up a new computer, the old one needs to be there โ powered on, if it still will. That's where your files live.
Where the router is
Know where it is and make sure I can reach it and the cables coming out of it.
What happened
When it started, what you were doing, any message on the screen. A photo of the error on your phone helps.
A clear spot at the desk
Room to set my laptop next to yours, and a way to get behind the tower.
Somebody who can say yes
For a business, the person who can approve the cost. I won't start work without it.
Plan Members and Business Accounts
On one of my home computer plans? Family and Whole House plans include house calls, and past the included ones, members pay a $75-an-hour member rate instead of the standard $100 โ and the plan covers the drive: no trip charge in the Core and Near zones, half in the Mid zone.
For businesses that would rather not pay by the visit, I offer managed IT packages. This page covers the pay-as-you-go visit โ you call, I come, you pay for that day. Not sure which fits? Get in touch and I'll give you a straight answer.
