Your IT Department, Without Hiring One

Most offices in Valdosta are too small to hire an IT person and too dependent on their computers to go without one, so the job lands on whoever is least afraid of the router. That's what this service replaces. I take over the whole picture β€” every computer, the server or cloud account that holds your files, your email, the programs you run the business on, the printers, and the people using all of it β€” so there's one number to call and one person who already knows how your office is put together.

Some offices I'm in every week; some call a few times a year. Either way, you're not explaining your setup from scratch to a stranger.

πŸ’‘ Two ways to pay: hourly at my published rates when you need me, or a flat monthly managed IT package for ongoing care. More on both below.

What I Look After Day to Day

If it plugs in, logs in, or prints, it's on my list.

πŸ–₯️

Workstations & Laptops

Setup, updates, slowdowns, the one that won't turn on, and when a machine is worth replacing instead of fixing again.

πŸ—„οΈ

Your Server (or the Cloud That Replaced It)

A server in a closet, or files moved to OneDrive, SharePoint, or Google Drive β€” I look after either: storage, who can see what, and backups.

πŸ“§

Microsoft 365 & Email

Mailboxes, shared calendars, Teams, licenses, and the spam and phishing filters in front of it all.

πŸ“Š

The Software You Run the Business On

QuickBooks, your practice or scheduling system, the point-of-sale at the counter β€” installed, updated, and talking to each other. (If QuickBooks keeps crashing, I've written up the usual causes.)

πŸ–¨οΈ

Printers, Scanners & the Rest

The printer that drops off the network every Tuesday, the scanner that quit scanning to email. Unglamorous, and I fix them anyway.

πŸ‘₯

The People Using It

Your staff get a person to ask, not a search engine. Password resets, "how do I," a new phone that needs email β€” all through my helpdesk.

The Boring Work That Keeps an Office Running

Fixing what's broken is the visible part of IT. The bigger part is the quiet work that keeps those calls from happening β€” the list most small offices have nobody doing.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» New-hire setupTell me before they start so their computer can be ready, with the right accounts, the right software, and access to only what the job needs.
πŸ”’ OffboardingAccounts locked when you tell me someone has left, email forwarded or archived, equipment back. Old logins left open are one of the easiest ways into a small business.
πŸ’Ύ Backups that are actually testedEverybody says they have backups. I restore a file from yours on a schedule so we both know it works before the day you need it.
πŸ“‹ Inventory and documentationA written list of every computer, login, license, and vendor account β€” so the knowledge isn't only in my head or your office manager's.
☎️ Vendor calls made for youInternet provider, software support, the copier company. I know what to ask, and I don't get put on hold as easily as you do.
🩺 Updates and monitoringWindows patches, software updates, and an eye on each machine's health through remote monitoring β€” one piece of this, not the whole. Here's how that works.

Security runs through all of it β€” locked-down accounts, two-step logins, business-grade antivirus β€” and has its own cybersecurity page. Cabling, Wi-Fi, and firewalls live on the network setup page. This page is the umbrella those pieces sit under.

How It Starts

No two offices are wired the same, so I don't quote from the parking lot.

🚢

1. A Walk-Through

I look at every computer, the server or cloud setup, the network closet, and the software you depend on.

πŸ“

2. A Written Plan

A plain-English list of what's fine, what's about to bite you, and what I'd fix first. No scare tactics.

πŸ’΅

3. Pick How to Pay

Hourly for the fixes, or a monthly package for ongoing care. You approve the cost before I start any work.

πŸ”§

4. I Get to Work

Urgent items first, then the rest on a schedule that doesn't disrupt your day.

Two Ways to Pay for It

Hourly, when you need me. On-site is $100 flat for the first hour, then $25 per 15 minutes. Remote support is $80 an hour, billed in 15-minute blocks with no minimum. Travel is a flat trip charge by zone, $0 anywhere in Lowndes County; the zones are on the pricing page. This suits offices that are mostly stable and want a known person on call.

A flat monthly package, for ongoing care. If you'd rather I keep watch all the time β€” monitoring, patching, backups checked, staff questions answered β€” that's a managed IT package at a fixed monthly rate. What each package includes is laid out on the managed IT pricing page. This suits offices where a computer down for a day means real money lost.

Offices This Fits

πŸ₯

Medical & Dental Clinics

Patient records, practice software, and the rules that come with them. That side has its own healthcare IT page.

🏒

Professional Offices

Law, accounting, insurance, real estate β€” a dozen or so computers, a lot of email, and files that can't go missing.

πŸͺ

Shops & Retail

A point-of-sale, a back-office PC, a printer, and Wi-Fi customers can't get into. Zero tolerance for the register being down.

β›ͺ

Churches & Nonprofits

Office computers, member or donor software, a livestream setup, and volunteers who need things kept simple.

🚜

Farms & Ag Businesses

An office in the shop, a laptop in the truck, and software the buyer or co-op requires β€” often on a slow connection out past town.

What a One-Person Shop Is β€” and Isn't

Browning PC is me, Ricky Browning. When you call, you get me. When I come out, I'm the one who shows up and the one who knows your setup β€” no ticket queue, no hand-off to a tech who's never seen your office.

The trade-off is honest too. I'm one person: I schedule work, I can't be in two offices at once, and I won't promise a response time I can't keep on a bad day. My hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. For the things that genuinely can't wait β€” a server down, a ransomware note, the register offline β€” I have an after-hours line: time-and-a-half, $150 an hour, open to established clients and to new clients who opt in.

If your office needs a tech on the premises every day, I'll say so. Most offices under a few dozen people don't β€” they need someone who knows their systems, keeps the boring work done, and picks up the phone. That, I'm good for.

Full Office IT Support β€” Frequently Asked Questions

How many computers does an office need before this makes sense?

There is no minimum. I look after offices with three computers and offices with a few dozen. What matters more is how much you depend on them: if a workstation or the server being down for a day costs you real money, it is worth having one person who already knows your setup.

Do I have to sign up for a monthly package?

No. You can use me hourly at my published rates: $100 flat for the first hour on-site, then $25 per 15 minutes, or $80 an hour remote, billed in 15-minute blocks with no minimum. Flat monthly managed packages are there for offices that want ongoing care. Either way, you approve the cost before I start.

Can you support our QuickBooks, practice software, or point-of-sale system?

Yes, at the IT level: installing it, keeping it updated, fixing the computer and network it runs on, and calling the vendor when the problem is on their end. For questions inside the program itself, the software vendor is the right call, and I will help you get through to them.

What happens when an employee leaves?

Tell me the day it happens and I lock their accounts: email, file access, and any business software. Their mailbox gets forwarded or archived so nothing a customer sends is lost, and I make sure the laptop comes back. Old logins left active are one of the easiest ways into a small business.

What if something breaks after hours?

My regular hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, closed weekends. For a real emergency, such as a server down or the register offline, I have an after-hours line. Emergency work is billed at time-and-a-half, $150 an hour, and it is available to established clients and to new clients who opt in.
