On May 12, 2026, Apple pushed simultaneous updates across its entire product lineup. This is not a routine feature update β Apple has confirmed the release addresses multiple security vulnerabilities that could allow attackers to gain unauthorized access to your device, intercept your data, or install malicious software.
Updates are available for:
Security updates like this one fix vulnerabilities that hackers actively look for and exploit. Leaving your devices unpatched β even for a few days β puts your personal information, banking apps, photos, and accounts at risk. This is especially important for business owners and anyone who uses their Apple devices for work.
π‘ Tip: Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi and have at least 50% battery before updating.
π‘ Tip: Save all open work before starting β your Mac will restart during the update.
π‘ Tip: Your watch must be on its charger and near your iPhone to update.
π‘ Tip: Apple TV can also be set to update automatically in Settings β System β Software Updates β Automatically Update.
The best way to stay protected is to enable automatic updates so your devices always stay current without you having to think about it. On iPhone and iPad, go to Settings β General β Software Update β Automatic Updates and turn on both toggles. On Mac, go to System Settings β General β Software Update and enable automatic updates.
